I have read some time ago that people love more the season they were born in, and that might be a good explanation why spring was always my favorite season. Or perhaps, because spring is associate with the blossom of love and “love is all we need”?
But what is actually “love”? A biological impulse, a set of romantic ideas, high expectations, desire, lust, romantic feelings, our need of idealization of a person, the need for intimate relationships ? To be sure, love involves all of these, but is not only that. I came across some of the best quotes about love on facebook, but none of them satisfied me. Love should be the most important event of our lives, yet we don’t know how to describe it accurately. When it comes into our life, we all want it to last forever, however, most of us get tired of it after a while.
To say “I love you” is not to report a feeling and it is not just the expression of a feeling. It is an aggressive, creative, socially definitive act, which among other things places the other person in an unexpected and very vulnerable position.” Robert Solomon
Maybe that vulnerable position is the one that we cannot bear all our life. Who likes to feel vulnerable everyday all of his/her life? Then why do we long for love if we’re not prepared to pay the price?
“I love you” is not just a phrase or an expression. It is not a description of how one feels. It is the opening to an unknown future, an invitation to a new way of life.” R.Solomon
How many times one can accept an invitation to a new life? How many times one can afford to start a new life? What happens if one receives three (or more) invitations at the same time?
I hate that springtime is a place where you can eat pizza and whatever. It should have been a romantic place, maybe the name of a beach surrounded with palm trees. Or the name of a fresh floral perfume. Or.
It’s up to me to make this spring special, like no other spring before. To live every day like will be the last one, enjoying and being thankful for all the good things in my life. You cannot be thankful to God for the good things, until you enjoy them, right? And being thankful is good for our mental state too.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
To do: a list with things I am grateful for.
