My whole world has been literally upside down the last two months. Not only because of the lockdown measures, but because of lack of hope that things will ever be the same way as they were before. All the things I used to love, going to shopping, traveling new places, finding hidden spots or pretty cafes, walking down narrow streets have all been taken away from me. I only can write my Sunday free associations #11.
News reporting deaths after deaths only made things worse. Why don’t they report the number of people recovering after contracting coronavirus? That’s a threat we never had.
I love to travel and I love to see many people around me. Probably, that’s why I usually pick up well known destinations full of tourists. Or maybe just because I have never been there and feel like I missed something, don’t know. However, after this lockdown time I might change that and search for quiet places.
*** about fairness
Fairness is an impartial and just treatment or behaviour without favoritism or discrimination. A fair person treats others equally or in a way that is considered right.
Fairness means people get what they deserve. Did I? No, most of the times I didn’t. And this happens to too many people nowadays.
Let’s thing of Brian Banks, the NFL American football player who served 6 years in jail for something he didn’t do it. He was falsely accused of rape and kidnapping. It would have been so easy to dismiss all the accusations if someone looked at the place where the girl said it happened, but nobody bothered to do it. I saw the movie last night and it moved me. I cried and I was angry that even the American Justice System was so flawed, so broken. One would expect USA to be the best. What about other corrupt countries?
Life is not fair, they say. People are not fair, I say. They like to have favourites and it does not matter how good you are at your job, the bosses’ friends are the ones that get rewarded. It’s not fair there are people dying of hunger in the world, while others are so rich they need thousands of lives to spend all the money.
After all, at the end of the day, we are faced with the question on whether we prefer fairness or injustice. Whatever we choose, we will have to deal with the consequences. In a normal world, fairness should bring fairness. In the end, I guess that will happen, but do we have the patience to wait for that end? We want all to happen now, to not suffer any injustice and don’t have to deal with unfairness.
Could robots have more fairness attitude than humans?
*** Sunday free associations #11
This May has not dressed the thorn flowers as it did in the past. The flowers are suffering of lack of admiration. Their fragrance is forgotten. People are staying home wondering about the future. Who has time for flowers anyway?
The sound of falling trees. I have watched with such wonder the variety of the trees breaking into leaf and flowering. They are more disciplined than me, anyway, as they follow the ancient unwritten rules without questioning them. Live and let live, the nature learnt this great lesson better than humans.
There is a commotion up there at the top, and I wonder if the trees communicate with each other. We usually think of them of being unsocial beings – that might be plain stupid of us – however, who can guarantee that they are not whispering jokes and laughing? Or maybe they share secrets unknown to us. They see so many things we are not aware of.
*** Rules don’t apply
I don’t like rules anymore as I used to. Living by myself for more than 5 years now made that clear. However, from time to time I had to take into account that living on this earth means following its rules. One of them will be to die.
The thought scares me now more than ever, with the coronavirus threat over my head. On one hand, I don’t mind leaving this insipide life, on the other I like it so imperfect as it is and I don’t feel ready to go. God only knows how fierce is the civil war that is fought within me when thinking of that.
*** Love will save us all
Some people have an insatiable lust to have power over other people, to control them, to rule over their lives. Their whole personality has been constrained to serve one single purpose, to subdue others to their tyrannous selfish Ego.
They are never happy as they cannot be sure what others think. This is what escape their need for control: the thinking process. These people are natural killers of any creativity. These controlling people are also referred to as wicked in the scripture, and can only be overcome by the love of God.
You need to fight hard against their controlling powers and set you free. There is not need to continue to believe in them or give them a chance to accomplish what they want.
Sometimes, these controlling people are nothing else than our own desires, destructive habits or ambitions. That need for perfection is our enemy and we should fight it, otherwise will destroy our souls and compromise our destiny.
Love will save us all.
